OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a popular AI platform, has made its SearchGPT feature accessible for free, eliminating the need for a paid subscription. This change comes less than two months after the feature’s initial release.
Users can now leverage ChatGPT’s search capabilities to retrieve real-time information from the web. Previously, these capabilities were limited by the platform’s AI training, resulting in outdated information. However, with this update, users can access the latest information directly through ChatGPT.
The “12 Days of OpenAI” event introduced this update, making the SearchGPT feature available to all users with a ChatGPT account. Previously, it was exclusive to the paid subscription tier or higher. OpenAI tested the feature with paid subscribers before offering it for free to all account holders.
According to OpenAI company, ChatGPT’s SearchGPT allows users to explore the web within the chatbot platform, providing reliable sources and links in both the mobile app and desktop browser versions. Users can prompt the chatbot to perform a search or directly access the feature by clicking on the “internet” icon.
In addition to this update, OpenAI has unveiled other advancements during its “12 Days of OpenAI” event, including the introduction of the powerful o1 model for ChatGPT Pro and the launch of the Sora AI video generator featuring the ‘Sora Turbo’ model. These developments reflect OpenAI’s commitment to enhancing its AI experiences.
With ChatGPT’s SearchGPT feature now available for free, users can engage with the platform more effectively, obtaining real-time search results without the need for a subscription.
